XI Chapter Recognition Dinnerfeaturing:
DEAN GAIL DUBROW Dean of the University of Minnesota Graduate School Dean Dubrow will speak on the changing landscape of graduate education in this country, the emerging field of interdisciplinary work, and the convergence of the two at the University of Minnesota. She will be joined by graduate student and Xi chapter member, Katie Schiller. Gail Dubrow is Vice Provost and Dean of the Graduate School at University of Minnesota, where she is Professor of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Public Affairs, and History. She has led multiple initiatives at Minnesota aimed at fostering interdisciplinary activity and reforming graduate education. From 1989 to 2005 she served on the University of Washington faculty, holding administrative appointments as founding Director of the Preservation Planning and Design Program, Associate Dean for Research and Computing, then Academic Affairs, in the College of Architecture and Urban Planning, and finally as Associate Dean for Academic Programs in the Graduate School. She has been a fellow of the American Council on Education, which included opportunities to shadow leaders at the University of California Berkeley and University of British Columbia. She is the author of two award-winning books, Sento at Sixth and Main, co-authored with Donna Graves (Smithsonian, 2004), and Restoring Women’s History through Historic Preservation, coauthored by Jennifer Goodman (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2003). We will also be honoring women that have been Xi chapter members for 25 years or more, as well as celebrating significant anniversaries of the rest of our membership.
